GOALKEEPING IS A SPECIALISED POSITION AND SHOULD BE COACHED AS SUCH

All too often goalkeepers are thought of as a secondary player when it comes to coaching them as many coaches tend to focus on outfield players. Because of this we provide specialist goalkeeping coaching which covers a wide range of topics including
:
* Footwork & Basic Handling
* Shot stopping
* One v One's
* Dealing with crosses
* Dealing with the back pass
* Goalkeeper Fitness
* Technique of Diving
* Distribution
This specialist coaching can be undertaken on
* a one-to-one basis,
* bringing together your club’s goalkeepers on your training nights or by
* them attending our Goalkeeping School.

The Goalkeeping school is extremely popular and fully booked well in advance. Therefore it is strongly recommended to book early to avoid disappointment.
Elevan ten week courses have been held since July 2007. They have been very successful which have resulted in goalkeepers being watched by professional clubs.
The courses have been enjoyed by all that have attended. Many keepers have returned to take part in all the courses that have been held. Steve believes that keepers and their parents recognise the importance of repeated keeper training and learning the important keeper techniques.
Safe Hands Goalkeeper School is run by coach Steve Harris.

Steve is the goalkeeper coach for OOH Lincoln Ladies a position he has held since the 2007/08 season. One of the keepers he coaches is 1ST team keeper Kay Hawke. During the 2007/08 season Kay made her full England debut against Norway. Steve will continue this during 2008/09 season but will also be part of the coaching team on match days as well.
Steve also coaches the goalkeepers at Lincoln City Girls Centre of Excellence his 14 year old daughter Sophie is a keeper for Lincoln City Centre of Excellence.Steve’s daughter Sophie during 2008/09 season attended 4 England u15 training camps and played a match against France. Sophie has just been called up for England U17 training camp at Bisham Abbey in late May 2009. Steve is very proud of Sophie and wishes her all the best for 2009/10 season.

COACHING

ONE ON ONE COACHING
This is a good way for a goalkeeper of any age to develop their goalkeeper skills and techniques.
Steve can plan sessions according to age and ability.
Sessions usually last for one hour and can be arranged to suit the goalkeeper.

CLUB COACHING

This is an area that Safe Hands is looking to develop.
Why not get Safe Hands to visit your training night and coach your goalkeepers.
Steve coaches OOH Lincoln Ladies 1st team, reserve and youth team goalkeepers. He also coaches Lincoln City Girls Centre of excellence goalkeepers.
It is important that your goalkeepers have a good understanding of the technical aspects of goalkeeping.
